Our Idea for a Chicago Police Blog
As we have told Supt. Weis in the past, the Chicago Police Department should create a blog. This would be highly effective in various areas when operated in a certain manner.
The first positive side of this is that it would bring the community and officers together. The only current blog available that remotely serves this purpose is the SECOND CITY COP blog.
Furthermore, we should be addressing problems in our city and have the ability to discuss it. Let's face it. How effective is CAPS? How many of us can go to these meetings? The majority of us are busy and just can't go to a set date and time once a month to discuss what's occuring in our neighborhood.
The media also never addresses what officers go through on a daily basis however we DO get to hear what people breaking the law go through.
There are some problems though that I see that need to be addresses. Foremost, Supt. Weis was recently talking about setting up a blog but requiring officers to log in and use some special password or something. I disagree with this.
Also, there will be the problem of people leaving comments and possibly posing as officers and others making derogatory remarks about officers, etc. This is why all comments should be reviewed prior to publishing.
However, I believe having this blog would be mainly positive and focus on the problems in Chicago and forming a relationship with the people who protect it.
